Tamala Joy: Fircrest, Washington; My name is Tamala Joy Aown and I am a antique book and watercolor enthusiast. My passion for art was inherited from my great grandmother, a Palestinian refuge, who taught me that even if your canvas is made of cheese-cloth and your brushes are made of cat hair, inspiring art comes partly from the imagination and partly from cleverness. After her death, I continued to live on her legacy and create beautiful pictures. For the past two years I have had the privilege to display and sell my art at Starbucks and at craft shows. Through this, I have been commissioned to design logos for a few companies, such Filbert Acres, Phoenix Landscapes, and the Cyber National Guard Unit. These opportunities have helped me to own my skills and win a state wide drawing contest for teens. Through all of this, I have really discovered that art is a calling, a force to be reckoned with, a great painting speaks to its viewers not just for the moment, but also for years. However, until I’ve reached that point, I hope I caused you to wrinkle your nose and smile.
